Picking Time and Conditions!
The patch is slowing down fast, as the heat takes its toll. There are not many berries and the ones left are smaller. We will be open today, Friday, July 10, from 9:30 am till we sell out. Today is our last day of the season. With the limited production, we don’t recommend coming from far. We hope to see you back in 2021, when we will have a patch twice the size of this year’s!
Prices
Our price for berries this year is $4.50 per quart or $3.75 per pound (if using own containers). Should you need flats to hold your own picked quart baskets, they will be available for a deposit of $2.50/each.
Containers
In the past we encouraged you to bring your own appropriate picking containers and took back plastic pint and quart baskets, in an attempt to reduce costs and waste. The Grey Bruce Public Health Unit assured us that as long as we sanitize our scales in between use, customers can use their own containers. We can take back used containers as long as we don’t use them until next year.
Organic Certification
This year we started the process of become a certified organic producer. We have always used organic principals and practices in our production and have decided to certify as we expand the wholesale side of our operation. Organic production methods are especially important with soft fruits, which are typically treated with a lot of pesticides in conventional production.
