We have an abundance of certain items at the moment. Some of them we are offering “free choice” in the CSA pickups, which means you should take as much as you want of that item.
This week, melons will be free choice. We always freeze a lot of melon and enjoy it in smoothies and juice throughout the winter. We just wash, take the seeds out, cut the fruit from the rind and cut into cubes, then freeze on a tray and bag once frozen. This will be the last big week for melons, so please take advantage.
Other items we will be selling extra of, this week we have corn, tomatoes and beets.
The prices for them are as follows:
Corn – $4 / 6 or $6.50 / 12 (we blanch the cob, cut the corn off and freeze it in bags)
Tomatoes – $1.75 / lb. (sorry, not many romas, more slicers and beefsteak)
Beets – $20 / 1/2 bushel
We will likely have more items as the season progresses and will try to keep you informed (a newborn might start to soon hamper my communication…). Please let us know if there are items you are looking for and we will tell you if and when they will be available.
